题目：An optimal linear approximation by composition operators

摘要：In this talk, we will discuss linear approximation of a class of nonlinear operators between uniform algebras on compact Hausdorff spaces by weighted composition operators. We get the best approximation constants and an example shows that the constants can be achieved. The proof uses the notion of Silov boundary and topological methods.

报告人简介：郑本拓,  Ph.D. in Mathematics, Texas A&M  University (2007), 主要研究方向是Banach空间几何性质及其应用；非线性泛函分析。博士期间解决著名的具有无条件基Banach空间的子空间刻画问题，回答了泛函分析国际顶级专家H. Rosenthal提出的一个三十多年的公开问题，并在UT-Austin博士后阶段运用空间理论对调和分析领域关于Lp空间函数平移的一个公开问题给出否定回答；在孟菲斯大学任教期间，完全证明弱有界逼近性质和强逼近性质对于任意Banach空间的等价性，解决了逼近性质资深专家Oja的一个猜想，先后主持美国国家自然科学基金NSF两项，已在国际著名数学期刊Duke Math. J., Trans. A.M.S., J. Func. Anal.等发表论文20余篇。.
